Tofu can be a bit tricky with its unique taste and reputation, but hold on—I’ve got a recipe that’ll totally change your mind about this ingredient. The perfect mix of spice and chili, combined with crispy tofu, is going to have you head over heels for it.
Nutricook Team
1 (400g) block Extra-firm Tofu
1 tsp Soy sauce
1 tbsp Cornstarch
1/2 tsp Paprika powder
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/4 tsp Salt
Oil spray
1/4 cup Panko (for coating)
Chicken, Prawns, Salmon, White Fish
1 tbsp Lemon juice
2 tbsp Honey or Maple syrup
2 tbsp Ketchup
1 tbsp Dark Soy sauce
1 tsp Red Chili flakes
1 tsp Sriracha sauce
Sesame seeds
Chopped green onions
Red Chili, Tomato, Garlic, Soy, Gluten (Wheat, Oats, Rye, Barley), Wheat, Black Pepper, Corn, Lemon, Citrus Fruits, Yeast
Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. To do this, wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels, place it on a plate, and put a heavy object on top (like a cast iron skillet or a few cans). Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
After removing the moisture, cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces.
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, paprika powder, garlic powder, and salt to create a marinade.
Toss the tofu pieces in the marinade until they are evenly coated.
Set your air fryer to 180°C for 12 minutes and press START. Your nutricook air fryer will preheat automatically.
Place the panko breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Roll each piece of marinated tofu in the panko breadcrumbs to coat them.
Lightly spray the coated tofu pieces with oil.
Once the air fryer is preheated, arrange the tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded.
Flip them halfway through for even cooking.
While the tofu is air frying, prepare the sweet chili sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together lemon juice, honey (or maple syrup), ketchup, dark soy sauce, red chili flakes, and sriracha.
Once the tofu is done, remove it from the air fryer.
Serve the crispy tofu with the sweet chili sauce on the side.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
